Is found discontinuously in eastern Panama along both slopes of Colombia western Andes and south to central Ecuador. It inhabits the edges and interior of humid forest and cloud forest. In elevation in ranges from sea level to 2,400 m (7,900 ft) but is most numerous above 1,000 m (3,300 ft).

They are found in very humid forests, from the intermediate part of the understory to the top of the canopy, between 700 and 2,000 m altitude. It performs altitudinal migrations. A hummingbird specie in the “brilliants”, it is found in Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Panama.

The Plate-Billed Mountain-toucan, is a species of bird in the Ramphastidae family. Endemic shared between Colombia and Ecuador. It inhabits humid high montane forests of the Andes. There are no known subspecies. It is one of four species in the genus Andigena, known as mountain toucans.

The collared aracari or Pteroglossus torquatus is a near-passerine bird in the toucan family Ramphastidae. It is found from Mexico to Colombia and Venezuela. Attractive small toucan of tropical lowland forest and edges. it’s upper mandible marks with it’s black saw-tooth pattern on the cutting edge.
